What's of interest
As you walk through the forest along the main track road you will notice a pond scrape. This has been constructed by Forest Enterprise to encourage more insects which black grouse feed off, particularly young chicks. You may also notice that strips of heather have been cut. This is part of a large project to encourage more blaeberry growth, a vital food source for black grouse and to also encourage different layers of heather which either chicks can feed from or hens can use to brood.
