About Crinan Harbour

Please note that due to recent storm damage all trails are closed at Crinan. We will notify you as soon as we can when they are to re-open. Sorry for the inconvenience. (As at January 16th 2012)

This public car park in an old quarry sits beside the picuresque Crinan Harbour and provides a starting point for the strenuous walk up to the ancient dun of Castle Dounie.

Castle Dounie

An iron-age dun or hill-fort with clear sections of outer wall remaining complete with some small chambers. Great place for photos.

Great look out for wildlife

This walk has fantastic opportunities to catch a glimpse of wildlife such as Black Grouse and Eagles. Scan the ocean for Porpoises and Minke Whales.

A short walk that reaps great rewards when you get to Castle Dounie of the views over to the islands. Time taken -2 hrs there and back with time to enjoy the views.
