Carradale is the nearest town or village.

BUZZARD AT NEST WITH YOUNGCarradale Forest is bounded by the Kilbrannan Sound to the East and the B842 road to the west. A programme of harvesting and replanting, which has been in progress for many years, has produced a forest with a wide range of habitiats for Wildlife. This makes Carradale a good place to see raptors like buzzards and kestrels which feed on the voles which breed in the grasses around the areas of young plantation.

Birds: Golden eagles, Hen harriers and black grouse can all be seen here, but best to be up early. We have information about Golden eagle and Black grouse

Insects and reptiles: This area has traditionally been popular for adders. We have information about Adder

How to get there:
From Lochgilphead take the A83 south to Kennacraig then the B842 running down the eastern side of the Kintyre peninsula to Carradale Village.
