Wildlife at Donview Car Park

Mither Tap, Bennachie from The Birks WalkAttractive car park with great views of the River Don and surrounding countryside. Picnic benches and toilets present. Please note the Donview centre is a studio for 5 local artist. It is usually open Sundays 11.00am - 3.00pm

Mammals: Look out for the occasional red squirrel in the woodland or roe deer in the fields near to the car park.

Birds: In the conifer woodlands, birds such as crossbills, goldcrests, wrens, blackbirds, thrushes and chaffinches can be heard or seen.
Jays and Great Spotted woodpecker are often seen too, flying through the woodland.
On the open moorland, meadow pipits and grouse nest in the heather. Birds of prey such as buzzards or in the summer an occasional osprey can also be seen flying over the hill.

Habitats: Specimen broadleaved trees around the car park such as Red oak, poplar and gean. There are oak woodlands near to car park (private ownership).

How to get there:
From Monymusk, head north on minor road towards Blairdaff. After approx. 1.5 miles, the Donview Car park and walks are sign posted off to the left. Turn left and follow the road, which runs close to river Don, to the car park.
