West Woods

(Average user rating5 unrated 4.2/5)

West Woods consists almost entirely of beech trees and becomes very popular in late spring due to the fantastic displays of bluebells which carpet the forest floor.

How to get there:

West Woods is part of Marlborough Woodlands. Marlborough is the nearest town or village.

Via M4, at junction 15 take the A346 to Marlborough, through the high street and on the A4 towards Avebury. Approximately two miles outside Marlborough take a left turn signed Clatford. Drive up to the crossroads and straight over. About one and a half miles along this road the woods and car park are sign posted on the right. (postcode for area SN8 4DY)

Fantastic - although I know this year not as good as some because of the weather. Never seen as many bluebells all in one place. Will certainly return next year. Fab pub at Manton - the Outside Chance - which is worth stopping at too. p.s. do we really need to help the 'poor, persecuted motorcyclists' understand why it says 'no motorbikes'? I think Mike is a little quick to over-react. Of course you can arrive by motor bike - just leave it in the car park with the cars; and don't tear up the forest tracks as some are wont to do. Go back again soon, Mike - it's worth it!
