ACORNS - ENGLISH OAK  (Quercus robur)The Birklands contains the remnants of the once extensive Oak forest which once covered much of Sherwood Forest. The most famous of these is the Major Oak but if you venture away from the crowds you'll have a pleasant and interesting walk.

Mammals: We have information about Roe deer and Fallow deer

Birds: We have information about Nightjar and Woodlark

Insects and reptiles: We have information about Adder

Habitats: We have information about Pinewood and Lowland heath

How to get there:
Access is via the Sherwood Forest Country Park which is situated off the B6034 north of Edwinstowe.
