Haywood Oaks

(Average user rating4 unrated 3.5/5)

Haywood Oaks is a small wood with hidden treasures. Mature oak trees, which are several hundred years old, can still be seen throughout the wood and provide a snap shot of the Sherwood of times gone by.

How to get there:

Blidworth is the nearest town or village.

The woods can be accessed via car parks which are located off the A614 (Nottingam to Doncaster road).

The amazing trees at haywood oaks are not in the wood or by the road , They are in the fields approching and in the farm grounds. The oak trees are anchient many hundreds of years old, and must not be FORGOTTEN , These are anchient trees ,rivelling the major oak and are a lost forgotten treasure of Blidworth,,,

Entry to car park is appauling with many large potholes to navigate through. If you have a 4x4 vehicle it would be no problem but for the average car a no go area. Car park was also islolated and was not happy to park there felt vulnerable to park the car in this car park so did not. would not recommend anyone with a car they care about to go there.

september 2010 the same thing has happened again, to my dog who was on a drip for 3 days & survived, the Forastry Commision have been swift to put up warning notices again, the woods should be safe after the 1st frosts in my opinion & Janice the vet at Rainworth has taken water samples from other areas, proving the BLUE GREEN ALGA theory. As there is no water in Haywood oaks woods, i think the BLUE GREEN ALGA may be passed on by birds looking for water in puddles. this is a wonderful place for every one, & should be used with care
