FOREST OF DEANThe woodlands covering the valley sides of the River Wye are a mosaic of broadleaf and conifer trees, providing a variety of wildlife habitats. Large parts of the area, particularly the limestone cliffs, form part of a SSSI.

Insects and reptiles: We have information about Adder

How to get there:
Accessed from the A40 at Monmouth, follow the A4136, (Gloucester road), for the northern woods and the A466, (Chepstow road), the southern woods.Easily accessible from M4/48, M5, M50, A40 and A49. Mainline trains via Newport or Gloucester.
