PAINTED LADYWest Stow offers good opportunities for quiet recreation and wildlife watching in Kings Forest.
On the northern edge of the Lark Valley, the walk passes through belts of old pine and oak as well as newly planted and mature conifers.

Mammals: We have information about Roe deer and Fallow deer

Birds: Woodlark and Nightjar are on most of the clear felled area. There is an active Heronry and visitors are asked not to disturb them during the nesting season. Hobby are regularly seen in summer and autumn. We have information about Nightjar and Woodlark

Habitats: Predominately pine woodlands, Kings forest is quite diverse and has a number of wide flower rich rides and also scrubby areas. Dale pond is on the yellow walk.

How to get there:
Join the B1106 towards Bury St Edmunds.
Turn right on a sharp left hand bend, signposted West Stow.
Continue along this road. Turn right into West Stow village.
On the edge of the village, bear right. The picnic area is a few hundred yards along this track on the left hand side.
