Ottery St Mary, Honiton, and Sidmouth are the nearest towns or villages.
OS Grid Reference: SY113915

This is an area popular with local people who come up to East Hill from the nearby towns of Ottery St Mary and Honiton to enjoy the stunning views out towards Lyme Bay. Away from the car parks and roads, amongst the broadleaves and conifers, you will find quiet areas to explore.
Mammals: Roe deer, badgers, foxes and grey squirrels are all known to inhabit this wood but being shy creatures makes them wary of venturing too far out of the heart of the forest. Their tracks, setts and other signs of activity, are easy to spot if you keep your eyes peeled. We have information about Roe deer and Badger
Birds: During the spring there's always a good chance of seeing buzzards or sparrowhawks. From May to June you might hear a nightjar churring at dusk. During the winter months, peregrines have been known to use this wood when hunting for prey. We have information about Nightjar
Insects and reptiles: You might come across an adder. We have information about Adder
Habitats: Areas of heath, pinewood, oakwood and beech make up the diverse forest at East Hill. We have information about Pinewood
How to get there:
From the A30 at Honiton join the A375 going south towards Sidmouth. At the Hare and Hounds pub turn right, then after 1-2 miles take the first turn left.
