Alwen

About Alwen

1500 hectares of upland coniferous forest surrounding the highly scenic Alwen Reservoir. Recent forest operations have revealed tremendous views across the reservoir, uncovered hidden archaeology and led to a resurgence of interest in this forgotten area.

How to get there:

Alwen is part of Hiraethog Forest. Cerrigydrudion is the nearest town or village.

Follow the A5 to Cerrigydrudion and then take the B4501 north from there.

What's of interest

Tremendous views around the Reservoir, fishing (permits available from the Brenig Visitor Centre SH966547) public footpaths within and outside the woodlands to enjoy in this remote and very scenic area and forest roads for quiet walking, cycling or horse riding.
