About Grandtully

A twist in the Tay

Climb through birch and juniper woodland to reach a hilltop fort with a stunning panorama over the river Tay.

The Picts built this pre-historic fort called Caisteal Dubh (or Castle Dow), 'the black castle', which gave defenders unrivalled views over the River Tay and beyond.  It's now a scheduled monument.
