About The Bin
The Bin is a mixed conifer woodland with a good variety of walks. Trees have been here since the 1840s, when the Duke of Gordon started the first planting.
There are two Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) - one for geology and the other is a mire or wetland. Groups can arrange to visit the sites by contacting the Forest District Office (01466 794161).
The Bin is also home to the multi award winning Huntly Peregrine Wildwatch Centre which is open from March to September. We have live TV pictures available in the centre. Our visitor centre has facilities for the less abled and ample car parking. Wardens are on site at all times during the season and information displays provide details about the peregrine falcons and the other regularly seen wildlife.
You can download a copy of our Aberdeenshire Walks leaflet in What's of Interest. If you want larger scale versions of the trail maps, please follow the link to any of the trails. Each will have a downloadable map, including distances and times.
