About Ordiequish
Easily reached on foot from Fochabers, this enchanting wood is a maze of old paths and tracks dating back to the 19th century.
Wend your way through pine and heather to Jean Carr’s Stone. This stone marks the sometime home and reputedly the final resting place of Jean Carr. A distracted character, ousted as a child snatcher, she took refuge wandering in these woods. Another highlight is the steep side Ordiequish Burn.
Or view the remains of dramatic ‘Earth Pillars’, red stony deposits laid down by glacier and river thousands of years ago.
Look out for ospreys fishing in the River Spey.
