About Raasay Forest
There are two areas of forest on Raasay. One is surrounding the main village of Inverarish and the other is at the north end of the island, near Brochel. Both are mostly mature, conifer forest.
The forest near Brochel is gradually being harvested. This area will be returned to native, broadleaved trees after this work has been completed.
There is an extensive network of footpaths over the whole island. Some of these are waymarked paths through forests, others are coastal or remote, more rugged paths.
There are breathtaking views everywhere. Look out for some of Raasay's special wildlife. There are seals, otters, porpoises and many sea birds to be spotted.
How to get there:
Inverarish, Brochel, Isle of Skye, and Sconser are the nearest towns or villages.
From the Isle of Skye, take the ferry from Sconser to Raasay.
Follow the unclassified road to either Inverarish or continue to Brochel, at the north end of the island.
