About Blairadam Wood

Blairadam has now re-opened with the exception of the Kelty Glen Trail. Visitors are asked to exercise caution as some blocked paths may still exist due to storm damage (Updated 2nd April 2012)

An attractive mixed woodland of mighty spruces and broadleaved beech woodland. Highlights are the Glen and Keltyhill Glen trails.

The eastern half of the forest was part of an important designed landscape centered around Blairadam House. In its heyday the estate was visited by Sir Walter Scott.

How to get there:

Blairadam Wood is part of Blairadam Forest. Kelty is the nearest town or village.

Take junction 4 from the M90 and head west along the B914. Take first entrance on right-hand side and follow road through wood for just over half a mile to the car park.

Since moving to the area 4yrs ago I have used "Kelty woods" for riding my horse and walking the dogs. we all love it, perfect for riding, quiet and peaceful and traffic free , easy trailer parking. dogs love the walks and the water . Did we see a red squirrel? or were we mistaken. never seen one before but we were sure it was . well done FC for providing and maintaining this forest.

living in nearby Dunfermline, i visted Blairadam Forrest for the first time this weekend and had a great time with my dogs. they were able to run free of lead without any danger to them or other visitors to the forrest. I would reccommend a visit if you are looking for a good day out with lots of interesting woodland paths to explore. i will be returning soon.

Interesting the Forestry Commission promote quiet peaceful low key use of the forest for recreation then submit plans to have 14 noisy wind turbines over 400ft tall in Blairadam. I won't be giving it 5 stars for recreation then, it will be ruined. I'm sure the community bribe will include lots of new paths but people use the forest because they like it the way it is.

As part of Scottish Governmnet we are keen to use the nfe to generate renewable energy. Any development proposed for the NFE will be subject to full public scrutiny via planning process. You can find out more on our wind/hydro web pages. (www.forestry.gov.uk/windhydro)
