About Glen Nant National Nature Reserve
One of Scotland's National Nature Reserves (NNR), Glen Nant is a very special place, being a small remnant of the extensive native forests which once covered the Scottish Highlands.
The mixed woodlands are dominated by oak and birch but the more fertile, sheltered areas support ash, elm and hazel.
There are rich communities of birds, mammals, insects and plants dependent on this moist, sheltered environment.
You can find out about the history of Glen Nant and why it is so special by reading the reserve story in the right hand column.
How to get there:
Glen Nant National Nature Reserve is part of Fearnoch. Taynuilt 3 Miles and Oban 16 Miles are the nearest towns or villages.
Take the B845 from Taynuilt towards Kilchrenan.
After about three miles, turn right into the entrance to Glen Nant National Nature Reserve and over the small bridge to access the car park and walks through this wonderful example of Scotland's Atlantic oak woodlands.
