Fearnoch is a forest which offers an outdoor experience that is easily accessible from the nearby town of Oban.
An ancient deserted settlement and views of a windfarm hidden in the hills reward the adventurous.
The nearby Glen Nant National Nature Reserve is an ancient oakwood famous for its Scottish woodants and place in iron-making history.
There is an Interpretation board on site with leaflets available for further Forestry Commission walks and cycle routes.
Walking at Fearnoch:
There are two walking trails Ceum nan Seangan (1.5 miles) and Tri Drochaidean (2.5 miles) which wander through this mixed forest both walkable within a day visit.
Cycling
There are also 14km of cycle routes ready to be explored in this magnificant forest.
How to get there:
Taynuilt is the nearest town or village.
From Oban, take the A85 towards Taynuilt. Fearnoch Forest entrance lies 350 yards down the hill past the sign for Fearnoch Village.
From the south, take the A85 from Tyndrum to Taynuilt. Fearnoch forest is just two miles out of Taynuilt village. For Glen Nant, turn left onto the B845 (signposted for Kilchrenan) before you go through the village.
The nearest railway station is Taynuilt.
