About Barcaldine

Barcaldine Forest area sits on the seaboard of North Argyll overlooking the Firth of Lorne, with views to the Morvern penninsula, the Isles of Mull and Lismore. The land here is well suited to forestry with groves of large specimen trees.

Cycle routes and footpaths allow visitors to explore the forest with ease through stands with a wide variety of species.

Where to start

There are car parks with access to waymarked walks and trails at Sutherland's Grove and Beinn Lora.

The car park at The Sandpit by Am Maoilean off the B845 gives access to Am Maoilean cycle route, but there are no waymarked walking trails here.

There's further access at Eas Na Circe, but there are no waymarked trails here.

There is a route diversion at Beinn Lora.

A section of the Lower Loop - Coastal Climb walk and the Eagle's Eyrie and Summit walk will be closed until further notice. This is due to tree damage caused by recent gales. A diversion is in place - please follow the diversion signs.

For your own safety, please observe all warning and prohibition signs.
