Loch Goil

About Loch Goil

There will be onging construction here until winter this year. Please be aware of construction traffic on the Arboretum Road and the Inveronich track. (Updated 19th April 2012)

At the end of the last century, Lochgoilhead was described as ‘not easily surpassed for beauty of situation and its fine scenery’.

After only a few hundred metres on this winding single-track road, dropping into Gleann-Mor, you feel as of you have been plunged into the remotest parts of the West Highlands.

In spring these woods gleam with fresh green leaves and fairly pulsate with bird song.

See also our pages on forests around Dunoon.

How to get there:

Loch Goil is part of Argyll Forest Park. Lochgoilhead is the nearest town or village.

By road, take the A82 along the western shore of Loch Lomond through Tarbet, entering the park at Arrochar.

Then follow the A83 onto the B828 to Lochgoilhead.
