Dornoch Bay Picnic Site

The drive up Loch Eck (A815), is part of the Argyll Forest Park and the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, and sticks close to the water's edge, on the eastern edge of the loch.

Birch, rowan and other hardwoods lightly fringe the road and shore. Across the loch, hills rise abruptly in craggy slopes, forested in their lower part, and with three big corries biting deep into the higher tops above.

The Jubilee and Dornoch Bay picnic sites are both worth a stop off on route. On a fine day, the view looking northwards up Loch Eck is not to be missed.  Please remember that these are car parks / picnic sites and camping is not permitted.

The west shore of Loch Eck offers a very fine long excursion on foot or by cycle from Benmore to Glenbranter, through varied woodland and open farm ground.
