Ardentinny Car park

(Average user rating5 unrated 5/5)

About Ardentinny Car park

Ardentinny beach, by the mouth of the River Finart, is one of the few sandy beaches on Cowal's coastline. It is an ideal sheltered site for a family picnic. As this is a car park / picnic site, camping is not permitted.

There are a number of walks beginning from the Ardentinny Car park, such as Birchwood Walk and Clunie Walk. See the activities panel on this page for more options.

See also our pages on forests around Dunoon.

How to get there:

Ardentinny Car park is in Ardentinny and Glenfinnart which is part of Argyll Forest Park.
There are two equally appealing approaches to Ardentinny.

Take the car ferry from Gourock to Dunoon, and follow the A815 then the A880.
Alternately, take the A82 from Glasgow along the western shore of Loch Lomond through Tarbet, entering the Park at Arrochar, follow the A815 at Cairndow, then take the A880 to Ardentinny.
Dunoon is the nearest town or village.

Some very inconsiderate campers next door! Cutting down trees with noisy chainsaw at 0325. I would go and have words but two drunks with chainsaw running not a good idea!

We would recommend that any such activity is reported to the police immediately - or as soon as possible after the event.
