How to get there:

Wyre Forest Visitor and Discovery Centre is in Wyre Forest which is part of Wyre Forest Area Woodlands.
The Forestry Commission main car park is situated 3 miles west of Bewdley on the A456 at Callow Hill, and is well signposted from all directions.

Bus services 192/292 run between Birmingham and Ludlow.

The nearest train station is Kidderminster.

Bewdley is the nearest town or village.

Also on site are way-marked trails with accompanying information leaflets, picnic sites, adventure playground for young children, family bike trail and an all-ability walking trail. The Community Discovery Centre and Education team can be contacted on 01299 266929.

Activities

Walking Wyre Forest Health Walks- every Tuesday and Sunday at 10.30 for 11am start.

:Walk in the Woods - looking at features of seasonal interest. First Wednesday of every month, 10.30am. £4 per person.

Cycling One way-marked family cycle trail 7.7km starts from the Visitor Centre.Follow the blue cycle markers

More adventurous mountain biking can be undertaken at Kinlet North, access from Earnwood Car park.

HorseRiding.gif Riders are requested to keep to the marked horseshoe trails and bridleways. Parking for horseboxes costs £4 per day. Day permits, trail maps and information on annual passes arranged in conjunction with the Worcestershire Bridleways and Riders Association are available from the Visitor Centre.
Educational The Wyre Forest Discovery Centre hosts the "education centre of excellence". Curriculum linked activities as well as a variety of adult craft and wildlife focus days are available. Phone 01299 266929 for a full list of school and group activities, as well as for the 'Events' programme. The new Community Discovery Centre, featuring many green technologies, is also available for community groups and organisations to hire.
Wildlife Activities Rated as one of the top three most ecologically important forests in Britain, along with the New Forest and the Forest of Dean.
Orienteering Orienteering sessions, either self-programming or staff led, can be booked through the Discovery Centre on 01299 266929. There are orienteering courses for the public to use at the Callow Hill and Hawkbatch sites, using maps available from the Visitor Centre for £1.
Arboretum Accessed from the Buzzard trail, the 2ha arboretum in the Wyre Forest has been managed by the Wyre Forest Society for over 20 years.

It was originally situated there because of the location of the Whitty Pear tree, and recently the WFS has planted an avenue of Sorb trees to continue the sorbus genus theme.

Picnic There are picnic benches amongst the trees or you can picnic on the grassy lawn beside the Visitor Centre.
Play Area Adventure play area for small children, and woodpecker tower.
Other Activities Forest Friends.. a club for pre-school children.

If you are the parent or carer of pre-school children bring them along for an hour of fun in the forest!

It may be a short pushchair-friendly walk, crafts using natural materials, or wildlife themed games.Wear suitable clothes and be prepared to get muddy! Every Thursday in term time, 10-11 am.£2 per child. No need to book, just turn up! Phone 01299 266929 for more details. Pity the information on the car park is not what it is supposed to be when you put in ■3 and the car park says this is for coaches

Great place and nice food but please,please drop the cafe and parking prices you will get more people to stop.

The woods are great, but the car parking charges for over an hour are to high and really put me off bringing the children to enjoy the woods. I would also have to agree that the cafe cost far to much so we wont be using it anymore if we do come. On the plus side the loo's are much better.
