(Average user rating5 unrated 5/5)

About Cudworth Common

The site is owned by The Land Trust and managed by the Forestry Commission

Cudworth Common is a beautiful 60 hectare site on what was once the spoil heap for Grimethorpe colliery.

Cudworth Common is a wonderful site for walking, cycling, horse-riding  and wildlife watching.

The site was restored with wildlife conservation and access for the local community being priorities, and as a result the site is host to a great diversity of birds, wildflowers and insects.

How to get there:

Cudworth is the nearest town or village.

From Cudworth village centre head along the A628 towards Shafton. At the next two roundabouts turn right on to the A6195 for Grimethorpe and Doncaster. Take the first right just before Sash windows on to a small track, stop at the end of the track at the red barrier and walk up the track to the entrance of site.

5 minutes walk from my home. I am over the Common twice a day walking my dogs. Beautiful. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. Don't forget to continue to Edderthorpe Ings for a lovely lake teaming with wild birds, some rarely seen.
