About Boughton Brake

Boughton Brake provides a great place to explore with its extensive network of paths and tracks. There are plenty of benches throughout the wood for those who need a rest or to pause and take in the scenery.  A surfaced trail network is located in the southern end of the wood taking in the biggest pond in the wood and part of the beech avenue running through the centre of the wood.  The more adventerous walker may come across the red pond at the north end of the wood.

The wood is not suitable for horse riding but a bridleway does run along the western side of the wood and can be used to get from Walesby to Bougthon.

The Friends and Users of Bougthon Brake have been helping to manage and maintain the wood for over 20 years.  If you want to get involved in volunteering or have any views and comments on facilities in this wood get in touch with the community rangers.

Boughton Brake which we discovered purely by accident, is exactly what we look for to have long slow walks when out with our Max. Beautiful scenery, loads of long trails, plenty of benches for my wife's rest stops, lo vely folks along the way and a whole lotta peace and quiet. Perfect!

Please could you tell me why Boughton Brake is considered 'unsuitable' for horse riding?

the woods are really pleasant and as a family we love walking through them, but yesterday when we reached the Walesby end, just near the railway bridge, someone had fly tipped a whole trailer full of builders rubbish, bricks, pipes, plaster and general household rubbish. what possesses these people, who think the countryside is just there for them to get rid of their rubbish, they should be ashamed of themselves, but of course they won't be
