About Warksburn

Warksburn picnic area is situated on the banks of its namesake (which is reputed to contain gold deposits!) Two waymarked forest walks start and finish at the picnic area. Points of interest around the walks include the Black Dyke, a pre-Roman earthwork and a profusion of water/wetland/forest plants and flowers.

How to get there:

Warksburn is in Kielder which is part of Kielder.
Stonehaugh lies approx. 10 miles south-east of the village of Wark, which is situated on the main Hexham to Bellingham road.
Stonehaugh is the nearest town or village.

Educational Warksburn, as part of Kielder Forest, is covered by the Recreation Rangers. Contact Kielder Castle for more details.
Wildlife Activities The forest is rich in its diversity of species. More information is given in the exhibition at Kielder Castle.
Arts Totem poles at the picnic area.
Play Area There is room for ball games on the large grass lawn.
Other Activities There is a bothy called The Green which is within walking distance.
