unrated)About Kielder Observatory Lower Car park
This small car park is signed from the C200 road outside Kielder village and can be used to access both Skyspace and Kielder Observatory. From here, Skyspace is just over one mile away and the observatory nearly two miles. The walk is along a long uphill stretch of forest road which has a loose stone surface. Please enquire at Kielder Castle about disabled access to these sites by car.
Alternatively, you can walk to Skyspace and the observatory from Kielder Castle. This is a longer walk, but does include a section of trail through the forest that reduces the time spent on the forest road.
However when you get to the top, the views reward the visitor with spectacular vistas of Kielder Water and the surrounding forest.
