About Falling Foss Picnic Place

Following the lane down into the wood you arrive at a small park and picnic place set amongst larches and broadleaved trees. Paths lead from here to Falling Foss waterfall, the Hermitage (a huge hollowed-out boulder) and Maybeck Picnic Place.

How to get there:

Falling Foss Picnic Place is in Sneaton Forest.
Follow the B1416 south from Whitby crossing the River Esk at Ruswarp. From here follow the road south for about 3 miles. Where the main road turns sharp left the access is signed 'Byway to Falling Foss' and is a minor road on your right.
Whitby is the nearest town or village.
