About High Vinnalls Car Park

This car park is the starting point for three walking trails in Mortimer Forest and a great place for a picnic.

There are some simple natural play features here aimed at encouraging imaginative play in the forest and lots of picnic tables.

Please note that there are height restriction barriers at this car park. Visitors with horse boxes need to use the Black Pool car park for which a key is available for purchase from the forest office.

Sorry the Orienteering Course is currently closed for maintenance

How to get there:

High Vinnalls Car Park is in Mortimer Forest which is part of The Marches.
From Ludlow head out of town on the B4361, take the turning on the right just over the bridge sign posted for the Forestry Commission. High Vinnalls car park is about 2.5 miles along this road towards Wigmore.
Aston is the nearest town or village.

Walking Three waymarked walking trails can be accessed from here.

Climbing Jack Trail
Vinnalls Loop
Cycling Cycling is permitted on forest tracks and bridleways.
HorseRiding.gif Horseriding is permitted on forest tracks and bridleways. However there is no parking at High Vinnalls car park for horse boxes or trailers.
Orienteering A permenant course has been devised by Wrekin Orienteers. Courses are suitable for beginners and maps can be bought from Ludlow Tourist information Centre for approximately £1.50.
Picnic There are several picnic tables in the vicinity of the car park
View Point The Climbing Jack Trail and the Vinnals Loop link to Climbing Jack Trail which ascends to the summit of High Vinnals giving panoramic views in all directions.

Vinnalls Loop brings you to wonderful views and paths, stunning! It is quite a climb, but worth it. Bring good shoes with you when it rains!
