About Viridor Wood

From Colliery to community woodland, with large open spaces, great views, sulptures and car parking Viridor Wood is an ideal way to spend an afternoon. Linking to the Three Sisters Country Park and the Leeds and Liverpool Canal you can explore further afield from here.Richard Caink's facinating sculptures provide a welcome place to rest and remmember the woodland's past as a coalmine.

How to get there:

Abram, Banfurlong, Platt Bridge, Hindley, and Wigan are the nearest towns or villages.

Mid way between Stubshaw Cross and Bryn Gates on the A58 Bolton Road, buses regularly stop at the entrance to Viridor Wood, and its just a short walk from the local villages. Alternatively there is a car park set back from the road just north of Stubshaw Cross.

Can the southern part of this path be accessed through Locker Lane Farm? Is this a right of way? There is a brown walking sign at the entrance to the farm pointing in. But the farmer has put a gate. Does anyone know?

Today i visited Viridor wood to walk my dog, I parked on the Bolton road car park.To my disgust some LOW life had dumped bags of building material on the car park along with broken toys. Not only that the amount and size of POT HOLES is a joke.I can not remember the last time i seen a forest ranger on Viridor wood .
