About Cannop

Located beside Cannop Ponds there is a large grassed area ideal for family games and picnics.  The popular fishing lake is an idyllic spot to view local birdlife, including Mandarin ducks. It also has good access to cycleways, please keep to the main family cycle trail rather than using the pondside paths.  There is a waymarked red trail for walkers starting and finishing at the picnic site.

The ponds are leased to Yorkley Angling Club for fishing, day tickets can be purchased from the club bailiff at the bankside.  Please keep dogs under control and out of the water when fishermen are present.

Heading over to the Forest again, for the bank holiday this weekend, and this will be the first place we visit. I absolutely love this place, it's busy (in a nice way), but there's always a quiet spot to be found and just sit peacefully. I've been reading online (thisisgloucestershire) about a breakers yard which has opened in the valley, and which there's been complaints about. Hope it's not as bad as they say it is!
