About Tunstall Wood

Tunstall Forest is also located in the Suffolk Coastal belt known as The Sandlings. It consists of coniferous plantations, broadleaved belts and heathland areas which link up with both Tunstall and Blaxhall Common. These areas are very good for ground nesting birds such as the Nightjar and Woodlark. Tunstall is very popular with walkers, cyclists and horseriders alike.

How to get there:

Wickham Market is the nearest town or village.

From Ipswich, follow the A12 north. Turn off on the roundabout which is signposted to Orford. Follow the A1152 (signposted Snape). When you come into Tunstall village follow the B1078 which takes you through Tunstall Forest.

Had a lovely day walking in the forest. Only spoilt by the areas where the paths had deep shifting sand, which made it painful to walk on if you suffer from Plantar Fasciitis, and will probably limit the amount of times I'll be able to visit such a lovely place.

Watched deer eating plastic bags left by whoever feeds wild life in the north-eastern corner. Feedbags everywhere. Not impressed!
