About Two Mile Bottom

The magnificent beeches lining the A134 at this site provide the setting for one of the most attractive picnic spots within the forest. Despite its proximity to the road, the splendour of the beech canopy affords an atmosphere of peace and tranquility. An open area next to the car park gives opportunities for those wishing to picnic or play during their stay. Here, heather and grasses add a splash of colour and interest for insects such as butterflies and bees, reminiscent of the former Breckland heaths.

How to get there:

Two Mile Bottom is in Thetford Forest Park.
Take the A134, Thetford to Mundford road.
Approximately two miles outside of Thetford, turn right signposted Two Mile Bottom picnic site.
Thetford is the nearest town or village.

Absolutely disgusted with the amount of litter throughout Thetford Forest.

We have a policy of not providing bins for many reasons - mainly because of the costs involved in managing bins and getting them emptied. We try and encourage people to take their litter home.

Could someone please explain the rationale behind NOT placing waste bins in the car park area? This area is an utter mess with drink cans, food wrappers and plastic bags tossed out of vehicles and into the grassed areas. How much would a couple of bins cost?
