The Plantation is a great place for dogs and children alike, with muddy puddles to wade through and explore in the warmer months, covered by trees you get shelter from rain and wind. You can walk straight down the middle on hardcore surface so can take pushchairs and wheelchairs without worrying they are going to get filthy. Well worth an explore!!

Brilliant tracks for kids to let off steam on their bikes!.. just take a spare set of clothes... they will be muddy! (our kids call it the "muddy place" - they love it.

What's of interest

Passing through Great Plantation is the Templar Way, an 18 mile trail which takes walkers between Haytor on Dartmoor and the coastal town of Teignmouth. The walk follows the route by which granite was exported from Dartmoor via the unique Haytor Granite Tramway and the Stover Canal.
