Sutton Manor is a young woodland with fantastic views across to the Pennines, Clywdian hills and even Snowdonia can be seen on a clear day. In 2009 Sutton Manor saw the unveiling of a magical sculture called the Dream which points upwards and to the future dreams of St Helens and the surrounding area.
In addition to woodland Sutton Manor is home to wild flower meadows with great displays of Bee orchids. Overhead you may see an Owl hunting and look out for a fox or a rabbit as you walk the gravel paths to the summitt of the site at 82m up.
Visiting the Dream
There are a number of access paths to the Dream sculpture. The nearest level access is adjacent to the Smithy Manor pub, Jubits Lane, Sutton Manor, StHelens, WA9 4BB. There is an A frame gate here allowing wheelchair access. Please see our access map.
Although the first part of the track is a gentle gradient, this increases to the top of the hill. There are some benches along the way. All the track is a fine gravel level surface. Allow around 20 minutes to get to the top if you are a slow walker. At the top you can do a circuit of the Dream, although it isn't compulsory!
