About Abergynolwyn
Nant Gwernol, a rocky river gorge with cascading waterfalls, lies above the picturesque Tal-y-llyn valley in the shadow of Cader Idris. The trails follow the riverside and explore the remains of Bryn Eglwys Slate Quarry. You can park and start your walks from Abergynolwyn village hall or take the steam train from Tywyn to Nant Gwernol station.
The short Cascade Trail closely follows the the tumbling upland river and the longer Quarryman's Trail visits the ruined mine workings of Bryn Eglwys with expansive views of Cader Idris from high above Nant Gwernol station. Leaflets are available from the Tal y Lyn stations and the Abergynolwyn Community Centre/Café.
