About Llyn-y-Sarnau
Llyn Sarnau
A damp squib or gateway to hidden gems?
Llyn Sarnau means ‘lake of the old tracks’ and makes a good picnic spot.
This shallow lake often dries out in summer and may not be much to look at, but it's a valuable home for wetland loving wildlife.
Try the Forest Lakes Walk to see some more visually impressive hidden lakes. There are a number of great viewpoints along it including the Carneddau and Glyderau mountain ranges.
How to get there:
Llyn-y-Sarnau is in Gwydyr.
Directions:
Take the minor road from Gwydyr Castle, Llanrwst (off the B5106 Conwy-Betws y Coed road) up into the forest, signposted for Geirionnydd. Or approach from Tŷ Hyll (ugly house) west of Betws y Coed on minor narrow road of A5 to Capel Curig.
