The Arch Picnic Site

The area takes its name from the old masonry Arch which spans the road: it was erected in 1810 by Thomas Johnes, formerly the owner of the nearby Hafod Estate, to mark King George III's Golden Jubilee. Three forest walks catering for all tastes begin here offering views of the surrounding mountains of Mid-Wales which are incredible. This is also the starting point for a longer walk of five miles, which is looked after by ADAS, a partner organisation which takes you out of the forest into the open countryside. Why not also visit the nearby scenic Hafod Estate, famous for its Picturesque landscape, where five waymarked trails await you.
