Tyn y Coed

A secluded tranquil woodland with a fascinating industrial heritage dating back to the Middle Ages. Tyn y Coed is a mixed woodland some of which has been there since the time of Elizabeth I. We are managing the woods to support the wide diversity of wildlife. Look out for wildflowers, life in the pond (400m along the track leading northwards from the carpark) and many forest creatures. You can explore the woods along a network of public rights of way and other pathways - suitable footwear is required.

How to get there:

Creigiau, Pentyrch, and Efail Isaf are the nearest towns or villages.

Tyn y Coed is situated between the villages of Creigiau, Pentyrch and Efail Isaf, to the north west of Cardiff. From the A470 turn off at the exit for Castell Coch and head towards Pentyrch. In Pentyrch turn right by the shops taking the road signed towards Efail Isaf. Turn left after 400m onto Tyn y Coed road and continue 1.5km to the car park.
