Rugged Strathyre Forest – Explore the ‘Sheltered Valley’ beneath wild and rugged crags

To make the most of this year’s autumn colours follow the Old Military Road A84 (T) heading north from Callander. There are superb views along Loch Lubnaig towards Strathyre and in the other direction towards Stirling. Alternatively why not take the time to walk or cycle along one of the forest trails enjoying the full display of the changing colours. The mixture of native and commercial woodland in this area provides a spectacular contrast between the Loch, Strathyre Forest and the surrounding mountain peaks of Ben Vane, Ben Ledi, Ben Vorlich, and Stuc a'Croin.

How to get there:

Strathyre Forest is part of Queen Elizabeth Forest Park. Callander and Strathyre are the nearest towns or villages.

From Glasgow take the A81 to Aberfoyle then follow the A821 & A84. From Stirling take the A84 via Callander.

For public transport information follow the Traveline Scotland link under the Useful sites section opposite.
