Yair
Yair Forest is also known as Lindinney Wood.
Yair is the old Scots word for a fish trap. In 1156 King Malcolm granted, to the Kelso monks, the right to build a fish trap together with 8 acres of land. The Tweed is world famous for its salmon, which are still caught in the river today.
This forest sits very close to the River Tweed and has paths leading to wonderful views. The Southern Upland Way leads up to the well known Three Brethren at the upper ridges of the forest.
