Thornielee
 

This is a small wood providing a variety of walks from a gentle stroll to a more strenuous climb. Its close proximity to the public road, good parking facilities and wonderful views make it a popular point for people to break their car journey.

The grassy slopes below the car park are a hotspot for butterflies such as the Small Copper and the Northern Brown Argus. There is interpretation about butterflies and their life cycle along the Butterfly and Meadow Trails.

How to get there:

Walkerburn, Selkirk, and Galashiels are the nearest towns or villages.

Thornielee is situated just off the A72, approximately three miles east of Walkerburn and six and a half miles west of Galashiels.

The Tweed Valley Forest Park lies in the main woodland corridor between Peebles and Selkirk and boasts some fabulous visitor attractions.

The Forest Park is within two hours travelling time from many of the major towns and cities north and south of the border - perfect for day visits.

Future development of the Forest Park will focus on stimulating local businesses and creating opportunities for local people to get involved in and enjoy their forests.
