Craik
Nestling in the heart of the southern uplands, Craik forest is great for those who want to 'get away from it all'.
Walking and cycling
Woodland trails and cycle tracks can be found around Craik village. The
Waterfall Walk beside the Aithouse Burn is particularly stunning at any time of year, while there's
all ability access along the Borthwick water, with information on the salmon spawning, bats and local Roman history.
Viewing birds and squirrels
A red squirrel hide allows the fortunate to view these elusive mammals and woodland birds for an added bonus.
The large scale and isolation make this forest perfect for the keen naturalist. Make the effort and in good weather you will be rewarded by a stunning woodland landscape on a massive scale.
Please take care as this is a working forest.
How to get there:
Craik is part of Forests of the Scottish Borders. Hawick is the nearest town or village.
From Hawick follow the A7 towards Carlisle.
At Martins Bridge turn onto the B711 and follow this road until you come to Roberton (very small village and school). Just beyond the school turn down to the left and then follow the unclassified single track road. Craik Forest is well sign posted.
