Slorach's Wood Car Park

This car park gives access to waymarked walks in Slorach's Wood. This enchanting wood is a maze of old paths and tracks dating back to the 19th century. The highlight for walks is the steep-sided Ordiequish Burn and the legendary Jean Carr Stone. The green walk starts in the car park and crosses the lower burn through a shady dell, while the upper reaches give fine views over the Moray countryside. Wend your way through pine and heather to Jean Carr’s Stone. This stone marks the sometime home and reputedly the final resting-place of Jean Carr. A distracted character, ousted as a child snatcher, she took refuge wandering in these woods. Her sad story is told on the panel beside the stone.
