Brochel Wood
Brochel wood is a planted, conifer forest. It is being harvested at the moment. This area will not be replanted with conifer trees but will be encouraged to regenerate with native, broadleaved trees.
There are low-key walks from here. One goes to Brochel Castle. The other is a long-distance walk to the clearance village of Screapadal and continues to the south of the island. The views over the sea to Applecross are spectacular.
How to get there:
Brochel Wood is part of Raasay Forest. Brochel, Arnish, Inverarish, Isle Of Skye, and Sconser are the nearest towns or villages.
From the Raasay ferry terminal, follow the road through Inverarish, turn left and continue to the far north of the island. Brochel wood is on the north west coast of the island, south of Brochel Castle.
A forest road leads off the public road to Brochel wood.
