Slattadale
 

Slattadale Forest is situated beside the western shores of Loch Maree about half way between Gairloch and Kinlochewe, and close to the Ben Eighe National Nature Reserve. The forest is mainly comprised of mixed conifer trees with important pockets of ancient oak and birch woodland. The largest island on Loch Maree (Eilean Ruairidh Mor) is also part of this forest and holds a pristine remnant of ancient Caledonian Pinewood.

How to get there:

Gairloch and Kinlochewe are the nearest towns or villages.

Slattadale Forest straddles the A832 road which runs between Kinlochewe and Gairloch in Wester Ross. The woodland is located beside beautiful Loch Maree with stunning views over the loch to Slioch and the Fisherfield hills. There is a bus service which runs between Gairloch and Inverness.

The islands on Loch Maree are managed as special wildlife sanctuaries: access is not encouraged without prior permission.
