About Leanachan
Leanachan forest is a great venue for cycling, walking, running and getting out onto the hills.
Leanachan is a key venue in UK and World mountain biking, with the mountain bike World Cup an annual event here since 2002. The Worlds best have been tested on the famous downhill, four cross, cross country and trials courses. You dont have to be an expert to enjoy the Witch's Trails though, their are trails for all abilities, graded from blue to black.
From the Allt a'Mhuillin track to the west of Leanachan, walkers and climbers can fairly easily access some of Lochabers most popular hills - Ben Nevis and Carn Mor Dearg.
Wood production has a major role in this forest, please be aware that their may be harvesting sites or timber lorries operating - be prepared to alter your route according to signage.
How to get there:
Fort William is the nearest town or village.
From Inverness follow the signs for Fort William on the A82. Once past Speanbridge the forest is on your left, and the main entrance is on the same road as the Aonach Mor gondola ski ride.
From the south you must go through Fort William and stay on the A82 heading for Inverness. You will see the signs for the Aonach Mor Ski Centre approximately 3.5 miles outside the town.
