About River Affric Carpark

The River Affric carpark is at the end of the public road in Glen Affric. It is set in the heart of the Affric hills between Loch Beinn a 'Mheadhoin and Loch Affric.

Stunning views, waymarked walks, long-distance and hill walks available from this carpark make it the most popular one in Glen Affric.

Try to arrive early in the height of the summer - it can be difficult to find a parking space.

You can also download the Glen Affric leaflet (PDF 4Mb) which has a map of the glen and details of the walks here.

How to get there:

River Affric Carpark is in Glen Affric. Cannich, Tomich, Struy, Beauly, Balnain, Drumnadrochit, and Inverness are the nearest towns or villages.

From either Beauly or Drumnadrochit, take the A831 to Cannich, then the unclassified road signposted Glen Affric.

After two miles, at the Fasnakyle power station, turn right to Glen Affric. The River Affric carpark is ten miles along this road.

There is an infrequent bus service from Inverness as far as Cannich.

What's of interest

Chaffinches have become very tame at River Affric - they may try to share your lunch! Also, look out for crested tits and Scottish crossbills which occasionally visit too.
