Daviot Wood

(Average user rating4 unrated 3.3/5)

About Daviot Wood

Daviot Wood lies to the south of Inverness on the ridge between Strathnairn and Loch Ness.

The forest walks allow visitors and locals alike to enjoy the peace and quiet of a semi-mature pine forest with opportunities for relaxation following the rigours of driving along the A9.

The wood supports a diverse range of wildlife, invertebrates, birds and animals. If you are quiet, you may see red squirrels and roe deer.

There are new waymarked forest links between the City of Inverness and Daviot village.

How to get there:

Inverness is the nearest town or village.

Daviot Wood is accessed from the car park beside the Tourist Information Centre on the north-bound side of the A9, some five miles to the south of Inverness.

From Inverness, it is necessary to travel south on the A9 to the turn-off into Daviot village. Turn back towards Inverness on the north-bound carriageway and after approximately one mile, turn left into the Tourist Information Centre.

This is a lovely wood with nice paths for easy walking. Be careful if taking small children as the paths from the car park have a lot of dog mess on and near them. There are obviously a lot of dog walkers who do not clean up after their dogs. It does get better once you reach the larger paths.

great woods to walk the dog but confusing as markers dont show what way to turn when your at a junction on the trail where you can go either left or right.
