About Blackmuir Wood

Please note: due to tree harvesting, the Pond car park and forest walks at Blackmuir will be closed to the public for safety reasons until further notice.

Please note also: due to an uneven surface, the disabled route from the RADAR car park is currently NOT recommended for disabled access.

Blackmuir Wood forms the southern boundary of the Victorian spa village of Strathpeffer.

The wood contains a network of forest trails which lead ultimately to the ridge of Knock Farrel and an extensive Iron Age Fort on its summit.

The views from the ridge are quite spectacular. Also within the wood is a stone maze built with 81 stones from all over the Highland and Island Region.

The path between the RADAR car park and the Stone Maze is suitable for wheelchair use.

How to get there:

Strathpeffer is the nearest town or village.

The wood is situated on the southern edge of the village and is signposted.
